Video now online! Damien McDuffie's "Black Terminus AR: Bringing Art to Life with Augmented Reality"
In this lecture, we welcomed Damien McDuffie, a creative technologist, digital archivist, and augmented reality (AR) artist and developer, for An Art, Technology, and Culture Colloquium lecture, presented as part of BCNM’s Oakland New Media program and co-sponsored by the Department of African American Studies.
In this interactive lecture, titled “Bringing Art to Life with Augmented Reality,” Damien McDuffie guides participants through the innovative world of augmented reality (AR) in the arts. Designed for a college-aged audience, the workshop explored the intersection of art and technology, highlighting the creative possibilities unlocked by AR. Participants gained hands-on experiences using Black Terminus AR, a no-code, drag-and-drop AR editor, to create immersive and interactive art installations. Through a blend of storytelling, historical integration, and digital curation, Damien demonstrates how AR can amplify diverse voices, promote cultural awareness, and bring new dimensions to traditional art forms.
BCNM is proud to make conversations with leading scholars, artists, and technologists freely available to the public. Please help us continue this tradition by making a tax-deductible donation today. If you are in the position to support the program, we suggest $5 per event or $100 a year.
