Revisited Update: Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

26 articles edited. 61 total edits. 1380 words added. Congratulations to the UC Berkeley Wikipedia Art+Feminism edit-a-thon attendees!

On March 21, BCNM partnered with the Berkeley Libraries, Digital Humanities at Berkeley, and D-Lab to host a Berkeley Wikipedia Edit-a-thon. The event fought against the gender gap present on Wikipedia, where both female article subjects and female article writers are significantly underrepresented. This alarming disparity was cause for a change in an important repository of shared knowledge.

Students only needed to bring their laptop and Wikipedia account to drop in throughout the day. For those unfamiliar with posting or editing articles on Wikipedia, several training workshops were held, some even for the more advanced Wikipedia buffs. All gender expressions and identities were welcome, making the atmosphere a communal one.
