Welcoming Sophia Hussain to BCNM!
We're so excited to welcome Sophia Hussain to the Berkeley Center for New Media, where she will be serving as our Events Coordinator and Office Manager.
Sophia Hussain is a writer and events programmer. She was the Programs Coordinator at the Asian American Writers' Workshop in New York, where she curated and organized a pan-Asian reading series with poets, writers, activists, artists, and scholars. She got her introduction into events planning at Verso Books, where she worked as a publicist in the Brooklyn office for three years. Most recently, she participated in Triple Canopy's Publication Intensive to study queer artists' relationship to archives and intellectual property. Since returning to the Bay Area, she has been a bookseller at Eastwind Books and volunteering as a hotline counselor with the statewide tenants' rights organization Tenants Together.
Sophia's regular hours will be Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. During event weeks, her schedule will follow event needs.
