Hubert Dreyfus in Memoriam

We are so sad to hear that philosopher and professor at UC Berkeley Hubert Dreyfus passed away on April 22nd, 2017 at 87 years old. Dreyfus' interests included phenomenology, existentialism and the philosophy of both psychology and literature, as well as the philosophical implications of artificial intelligence. His work, including a course recording of "Man, God, and Society in Western Literature - From Gods to God and Back," captured the attention and following of many, including non-academics. We will miss him dearly.

At BCNM, we were privileged to hear Hubert speak at our 2014 Robots & New Media conference on April 4, 2014. You can watch his talk, with a warm introduction from Eric Paulos, “Robots, AI, and Existential Phenomenology” below.
