Sivan Eldar Receives Postdoc at IRCAM

BCNM's Sivan Eldar will be heading off to Paris for an 8 month postdoc at the Institut de recherche et coordination acoustique/musique (IRCAM) in Paris. She will be working with composer Hèctor Parra and the other composers/researchers working on cutting edge sound and acoustic technology. She has received the Alfred Hertz Memorial Traveling Scholarship to support her residency. Eldar was previously a recipient of the Ladd Prize, which gave her a 9-month composition residency in Paris.

Hailing from Israel, Eldar moved to the US to pursue her musical education, ending up at UC Berkeley for her PhD in music composition and new media. Eldar has been a awarded grants and prizes from the Fulbright Foundation, ASCAP, Hearst Foundation, the European Broadcasting Union, the Accademia Musicale Chigiana, the J. Dorfman Composition Competition, and the Nicola di Lorenzo Composition Competition.

Eldar has worked with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra (Paris), Berkeley Symphony (Berkeley), International Ensemble Modern Academy (Frankfurt), Divertimento Ensemble (Milan), and Ensemble Mise-en (New York). During the 2014-15 concert season, her music was premiered at Boston’s Symphony Hall, Paris’ Maison de la Radio and Le Centquatre, Oslo’s Bærum Kulturhaus, Berlin’s RADIOALSYSTEM-V Art Center, NY’s Bohemian National Hall, and Prague’s Lobkowitcz Palace, among other venues.
