Ron Rael & Arch100D Take 3D Printed Homes to Kenya

Associate Professor of Architecture and BCNM faculty member Ron Rael took his ARCH100D class to Vipingo, Kenya to inform plans to implement 3D printed houses for community members.

Students were challenged to design homes with both local, traditional, and technology-forward influences over the course of the semester. The trip this summer was 10 days, sponsored by BetterPlace International, so students were able to observe the environment, conduct fieldwork, and generate ideas for the proposed site.

By 2018, an astounding 280 homes will be 3D printed for the site.
