Edgar Fabián Frías' Art at Givenchy's Beauty Pride Gallery

Alum Edgar Fabián Frías is a multidisciplinary artist, psychotherapist, educator, curator, and brujx based in Los Angeles. Frías' work explores themes of resistance, resiliency, and radical imagination in the face of colonization, environmental racism, and other contemporary issues. Drawing on Indigenous Futurism, spirituality, play, pedagogy, animism, witchcraft, and queer aesthetics, Frías offers a unique perspective on the complexities of modern society. Through their art, they bridge the gap between the traditional and the contemporary and create spaces for contemplation and transformation. They hold dual BA degrees in Psychology and Studio Art from UC, Riverside, and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus on Interpersonal Neurobiology and Somatic Psychotherapy from Portland State University.

In this exhibition, Givenchy Beauty collaborated with three digital artists Vanille Verloës, SamJ and Edgar Fabián Frías to each create a digital art piece on the metaverse platform, Spatial. Each artwork inspired by Pride month also mirrors the brand’s codes and the freedom to truly be oneself.

From Edgar:

As we celebrate Pride Month, I am proud to present the Givenchy Beauty Pride Gallery—an ephemeral exhibit like no other. This groundbreaking showcase, situated in the multiverse, features commissioned pieces by three talented digital artists from the LGBTQIA+ community. Sam J, Vanille Verloës, and myself. Together, we have created awe-inspiring works of art, all centered around the theme of "the freedom to express yourself and to be yourself." It is truly an honor to be part of this celebration of self-expression and individuality. You can see a still image of my artwork, Chroma Nexus, above.

I encourage each and every one of you to visit the Givenchy Beauty Pride Gallery on Spatial. Immerse yourself in the virtual space, explore the art, and feel the electric energy of our vibrant LGBTQIA+ community. Many thanks to the wonderful team at Bem Builders for this wonderful support and all the hard work this did to make this possible.

I am overjoyed to share that our project has caught the attention of international publications. Elle USA, Vogue Singapore, Women's Wear Daily, NFT Now, the Journal de Luxe (Paris, France), PR Times (Tokyo, Japan), and more have featured articles about our groundbreaking endeavor. This global recognition serves as a testament to the significance and impact of our work on an international scale.
