Pablo Paredes Featured in El Mercurio

BCNM Alum Pablo Paredes is featured in El Mercurio, an Ecuadorian newspaper in the Spanish language! In the article, Paredes speaks of his projects related to mental health and his motivation to study computer science at the University of California, Berkeley, where he received a full-ride scholarship that changed his life. Through his connection with UC Berkeley, he later attended Stanford and founded the Wellbeing Technology Lab, where both technology and mental health converge.

From the article (translated to English):

Even before the pandemic, Pablo Paredes Castro walked the streets of Silicon Valley, where he saw the offices of Facebook, Google, and Tesla on a daily basis. For him that landscape is part of his habit, even so, it is still space where technology emerges into the world.

Throughout his years of study, Pablo was always accompanied by the desire to explore the field of mental health. That curiosity and motivation led him to apply, in 2010, for a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Berkeley. This institution would give him a full scholarship, which would change Pablo's life.
