Announcing BCNM's Fall 2020 Class Fund Recipients

This year, we’re thrilled to be able to offer small grants to further support our faculty in their new media classes. Check out below how we’re enhancing the student and teaching experience.

Jacob Gaboury

Jacob Gaboury will be using funds to support FILM 240: Digital Aesthetics by inviting scholars and guest speakers, who will share their expertise on topics such as: lethargy and digital media, VR and immersive cinema, queer digital art practice, black media philosophy, queer and feminist games, and lesbian media technologies.

Tom McEnaney

Tom is teaching COML 170 / INFO 190 Computational Humanities and will be using funds to host a guest speaker on the topic of computational approaches to literature and race.

Jill Miller

Faculty are frantically seeking to improve their students’ Zoom experience and Jill will be purchasing an upgraded lighting and camera system for her core class, NWMEDIA 201 Questioning New Media.

Alex Saum-Pascual

Alex is teaching Spanish 285: Digital Literary Art and the Web of Life (World Ecology) this Fall and will be inviting a series of speakers and scholars from Europe, South and North America to intervene remotely. The seminar engages with posthuman, environmental and material feminist critics, discussing art and literature that exploits the affordances and limitations of the digital web.

Clancy Wilmott

Clancy is offering NWMEDIA 290 Locative Media for the first time with BCNM! She will be inviting a speaker from the Sogorea Te Land Trust to talk about what location means.
