Alum Trevor Paglen in Entangled Realities at HEK

Running from May 9th to August 11th, the exhibition Entangled Realities is dedicated to the current topic of artificial intelligence (AI) and its effects on human life and society. Our own alum Trevor Paglen is one of the featured artists in this fantastic program at HEK, running alongside Art Basel.

HeK is dedicated to digital culture and the new art forms of the information age. It is a place for creative and critical discourse on the aesthetic, socio-political and economic impact of media technologies. HeK shows contemporary art that explores and configures new technologies; it promotes an aesthetic practice that uses information technology as a medium, makes it vividly accessible and actively intervenes in its processes. HeK thereby addresses the pressing issues of twenty-first-century culture and makes an active contribution to their future evolution.

The exhibition and the accompanying program are supported by Mercator Stiftung, Migros Kulturprozent, iArt and ArtTech Foundation.

From the website:

Humans and machines are in constant dialogue and it is vital that we understand the conditions of our coexistence. What role will we play in shaping these new interwoven realities? Who supervises the infrastructure of computer-based networks? We have to learn to understand how these systems work as in the future it will difficult to determine whether content or information is authentic, manipulated or completely artificial. The aim of the exhibition is therefore to understand and critically interrogate the development and creation of new realities currently taking place, so that we can control their development and not vice versa.
