Alum Trevor Paglen's Surveillance Art Featured on NPR

NPR featured Trevor Paglen earlier this month after he "sent a giant inflatable mirror up into space."

His latest project, the Orbital Reflector, which he has worked on in collaboration with the Nevada Musuem, is now orbiting space. The mirror reflects sunlight so it can be spotted from the ground.

Paglen's project initiated a discussion on surveillance, the colonization of space, and whether satellites have a purpose beyond aesthetic appeal.

NPR follows Paglen's research from his graduation from UC Berkeley with a Ph.D. in geography and a designated emphasis in new media.
