Ken Goldberg and Tiffany Shlain: "Robots, Botox, and Google Glass"

BCNM's Ken Goldberg and his wife, Tiffany Shlain, have made a new mini-documentary about the 'uncanny' reflex, the natural human response to objects that are too life-like, but not human enough, and to the feeling of violation that come from being surveilled without permission. Goldberg and Shlain look at the biological roots of this reflex, and pose the question of how technological advancement can avoid the 'valley of the uncanny' and continue to create innovations in robotics and information layering gadgets that don't give us the heebie jeebies.
