Call for Art: Manufacturing Transparency

NewHive and The Goethe-Institut of San Francisco are inviting artists to submit work based on the theme of Manufacturing Transparency using NewHive’s multimedia publishing platform. Artists are encouraged to design pages with original text, animations, audio, and videos, or make use of NewHive’s code editor to build a page from scratch. The top selections will be displayed as an exhibition at the ART-Lounge of the Goethe-Institut San Francisco from October 29th to November 6th, as part of the “Manufacturing Transparency” conference at UC Berkeley’s Center for New Media.

A jury of judges, including Kerry Doran, Associate Director of bitforms gallery; Harlo Holmes, Digital Security Trainer for the Freedom of the Press Foundation; Lindsay Howard, Curatorial Director at NewHive; and Sabine Erlenwein, Director of The Goethe-Institut will select one artist to receive an award of $500.

Submissions will be accepted through NewHive until October 2, 2015. Save your artwork with the tag #transparency for consideration.

This exhibition is part of an interdisciplinary conference entitled Manufacturing Transparency, which explores transparency across borders and is hosted by the Berkeley Center for New Media, the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, the Goethe-Institut San Francisco, and the Office of Science and Technology at the French Embassy.
