BCNM at Minnesota Street Project's How Not to Be Heard

The Berkeley Center for New Media was thrilled to collaborate with the newly opened Minnesota Street Project on How Not to be Heard: Hito Steyerl's Subversive Strategies. After Hito's incredible Art, Technology, and Culture Colloquium earlier this year, the Minnesota Street Project, which exhibits some of Steyerl's work, realized a longer conversation on the artist's strategies deserved to take place. BCNM's Greg Niemeyer and Shannon Jackson, along with Hito Steyerl collaborator Kevan Jenson and Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art curator Lanka Tattersal presented a panel discussion delving into these issues on Sunday, June 26th from 2-5pm. With a full crowd in attendance, they touched on Hito's careful positioning of the audience, the means by which Hito is able to work across borders and exhibit internationally, and the impact her political works can have.
