Valencia: Now Available to Rent on Vimeo

Clement Hil Goldberg, recent Art Practice and BCNM DE graduate, produced the experimental feature length film Valencia with Michelle Tea. Valencia has been released on demand on Vimeo.

Clement is a hybrid artist primarily working in film, sculpture, and animation to cultivate a fabulous extinction aesthetic. Clement recently created the stop motion animated web series The Deer Inbetween. Clement’s current and ongoing project, "Our Future Ends," is an iterative stop motion animated and cinematic sculptural installation work that connects the near extinct lemur primates of Madagascar to an imagined queer prehistory set in the mythical land of Lemuria. The latest iteration of "Our Future Ends" will be exhibited in the Berkeley Art Museum in the UC Berkeley Art Practice MFA show opening July 1st.

Valencia is a collaboration between a national community of queer filmmakers to adapt Michelle Tea's award winning queer memoir of the same name chapter by chapter. It's a kaleidoscopic vision of San Francisco’s vibrant Mission District in the early 1990s, before the dot-com apocalypse, when the neighborhood functioned as a low-rent playground for a generation of punk lesbians who came of age during the birth of the Queer Nation. Valencia documents the rise of a punk lesbian diaspora through the experience of Michelle, a single rootless twenty-something searching for sex and love, drugs and adventure. The 20-filmmaker film won Jury Awards for Best Experimental Feature at the Polari Film Festival and Best Narrative Feature at Chicago Reeling in 2013.
