Opening Reception and Artist Talk, Video Voyages

Curator Stijn Schiffeleers of the Oakland Museum of California, and Artist Andrew Benson join us for reception to launch the BCNM Commons video art series.
Three original works by Bay Area artist Andrew Benson launch a series of video art works in the BCNM Commons. Video Voyages, curated by Stijn Schiffeleers, features artists whose work is based in new medias. Stijn is a New Media Producer for the Oakland Standard, at the Oakland Museum of California. BCNM is programming video art in the window of the Commons at 340 Moffitt 24 hours each day. The following pieces by Andrew Benson are screened from August 15 through October 14, 2011.

Andrew Benson is a visual artist and performer based in San Francisco. His multi-disciplinary work in video, sound, performance, painting and installation - has been presented by the Berkeley Art Museum, Southern Exposure, LACMA West, and the Museum for Image and Sound in São Paulo. He is Designer/Director for a number of high profile touring musical acts including M.I.A. He has been teaching electronic media courses at the San Francisco Art Institute since 2008 and creates educational web content for Cycling '74 Software.
