Ed Campion

Edmund Campion is currently Professor of Music Composition and Director at the Center for New Music and Audio Technologies at the University of California, Berkeley. He has been active as performing artist, composer, software developer and collaborating artist for over 25 years. Ed will be hosting a webinar for the Berkeley Art + Design department. In this discussion, the Director of Berkeley's Center for New Music and Audio Technologies (CNMAT) traces a recurring story of human/technology disruptions that continue to upend and transform music and music making up to our current moment.

Celeste Kidd

World-renowned Berkeley Psychology faculty members Celeste Kidd, Matthew Walker and Dacher Keltner will walk us through fundamental questions on how we learn as children and as adults; why we sleep, and how our sleep patterns change through our lifetime; and how everyday awe can increase our sense of time and well-being. Ken Goldberg

Ken Goldberg will be a speaker for the HMC 2022 focused on Algorithmic Futures. Ken Goldberg is William S. Floyd Distinguished Chair of Engineering at UC Berkeley and Chief Scientist of Ambi Robotics. Ken leads research in robotics and automation: grasping, manipulation, and learning for applications in warehouses, industry, homes, agriculture, and robot-assisted surgery. He is Professor of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at UC Berkeley, with appointments in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Art Practice, the School of Information and UCSF Radiation Oncology.

Alex Saum-Pascual

Alex Saum-Pascual—a digital artist, poet, and UC Berkeley professor of contemporary Spanish literature and new media—discusses her academic and creative work on digital literature, examining the environmental impact of digital technologies.

Currently, she is associate professor of contemporary Spanish literature and new media at UC Berkeley. She is also part of the Executive Committee of the Berkeley Center for New Media and the board of directors of the Electronic Literature Organization. She will host an event at the BAMPFA Osher Theater on Digital Poetry for the End of the World.

The event is part of kpbs' Media Care Talk Series which examines the concept of care and showcases the process of knowledge production surrounding artificial care in media practice.

Ra Malika Imhotep

Ra Malika Imhotep will be part of Brown Universities "The Nicknames of Distortion: A Hortense Spillers Symposium" which is a celebration of both the collection and exhibit. It brings together graduate students, early-career scholars, and independent scholars to study and discuss Spillers’s contributions to intellectual and pedagogical practices in the fields of Black feminist criticism, literary studies, and cultural studies, among others.
