Conference Grant Reports: Haripriya Sathyanarayanan at Elevate

Haripriya Sathyanarayanan presented their research as a poster titled: "Patient-Centered Design in Pediatric Healthcare Buildings using Immersive Virtual Environments" at The Beryl Institute Elevate PX 2023. The Beryl Institute Elevate PX 2023, a global patient experience event was scheduled March 27 - April 30, 2023. As a recipient of The Beryl Institute Patient Experience Scholar Program, I was given the opportunity to present my research as a poster at the event. The grant program supports Professional doctoral students as they conduct research associated with the patient experience. Candidates come from across the healthcare educational spectrum from nursing to management to healthcare administration.
My poster titled: Patient-Centered Design in Pediatric Healthcare Buildings using Immersive Virtual Environments. It included findings from my ongoing studies at the XRLab, UC Berkeley. The conference included topics based on special interest communities. For example I was interested in the 'Pediatric' and 'Patient Advocacy' and 'Patient and Family Member' groups. Some of the sessions that really stood out were the keynote by Shola Richards the CEO and Founder of Go Together Global™, the best-selling author of Making Work Work, and Go Together, New Methods of Narrative Feedback Collection and Reporting: Results of a 5-Year Field Experiment, and A Novel Approach to Coaching and Measuring Empathy by Mount Sinai Health System.The conference gave me an opportunity to share my research, and I look forward to presenting my findings next year via a talk.
