Berkeley Public Schools at CITRIS Invention Lab

To mark National Week of Making, BCNM executive committee member Eric Paulos and Lab Manager Chris Myers hosted a dozen Berkeley Public schoolchildren and their parents at the CITRIS Invention Lab on Saturday, July 13th. Many of the students attend the Berkeley Arts Magnet, BAM, and had the chance to extend their artistic education at UCB.

The students, aged K-5, designed and built SpinBots (robotic toys equipped with colorful pens that create intricate designs on poster-sized sheets) using some serious technology — laser cutters, 3D printers, the works! Fun, games, and new inventions abounded. We suspect we have the next generation of makers already on our hands!
