The Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation will host its Spring 2026 Design Showcase from May 6–8, a three-day exhibition featuring student work across 14 courses in design, engineering, and creative technology. Spanning interactive systems, fabrication, and critical media practices, the showcase offers a look at how UC Berkeley students are experimenting with emerging tools and ideas.

Two sessions will highlight courses connected to new media. On Wednesday, May 6 (2:00–3:30 PM), projects from DES INV 23: Creative Programming and Electronics, COMPSCI 294-304: Human-AI Interaction, and NWMEDIA C203: Critical Making will be featured. On Thursday, May 7 (2:00–3:30 PM), presentations include ENGIN 29: Manufacturing and Design Communication, MECENG 292C / DESINV 190: Human-AI Design Methods, and NWMEDIA C203: Critical Making. The event also includes independent student work, contributions from campus clubs, and tours of the Makerspace.

The showcase concludes on Friday, May 8 (5:00–6:30 PM) with a presentation of work from students in the Berkeley Master of Design (MDes) program.

Held at Jacobs Hall, the Spring Design Showcase is free and open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to drop in, engage with student projects, and experience the breadth of design innovation happening across campus.
