Building Worlds: Writing and Drawing for Digital Storytelling

Join us this summer for Building Worlds: Writing and Drawing for Digital Storytelling, a beginner-friendly workshop where you will explore the foundations of creative writing and art practices for animation!

Through hands-on exercises in writing and sketching, you will develop characters, build immersive worlds, craft compelling narratives, and learn essential techniques in composition, story structure, and visual storytelling.

Meet Your Instructors

Dr. Yairamaren Maldonado, Ph.D. (UC Berkeley) is a published author and the founder and executive director of Escritura Pública, a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting BIPOC women’s voices through storytelling, the literary arts, and multimedia publications.

Tim Evatt is a designer at Pixar Animation Studios, with credits on films like Inside Out 2, Lightyear, Coco, and Soul. With 20 years in the industry, his expertise spans video games and animated films, bringing worlds and characters to life on the big screen.
