“Breathless: Catie and the Robot” Featured in SF Chronicle

Ken Goldberg and Catie Cuan's “Breathless: Catie and the Robot” is featured in the San Francisco Chronicle. The eight-hour choreorobotic performance is currently on show at the San Francisco Exploratorium.

“We have great respect for (manual labor) and believe that it’s going to be a long time before robots are able to do those kinds of jobs,” Goldberg said. “So we started thinking about how to make those expressive and suggestive in the context of the robot and Catie. When we started thinking, for example, of stirring, there was this rhythmic, repeating motion. We found sinusoidal functions that can make that look reasonable and smooth.”
