Abigail De Kosnik Awarded ARC Loft Grant

BCNM faculty member Abigail De Kosnik has been awarded the inaugural LOFT Faculty Arts Development Grant by the Arts Research Center!

Abigail's play script, The Philippine Deep, is based on her research on five generations of her family history and 150 years of Philippine and Philippine-U.S. history. The first two acts of the play take place in the Philippines, the third act takes place in the U.S. Abigail will use the LOFT Grant to organize a staged reading of The Philippine Deep during the 2025-2026 academic year. That event will enable her department, Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies, to evaluate whether or not to give the play a full stage production in the 2026-2027 academic year. The staged reading will also give Abigail the opportunity to recruit Filipino/a-American students at Berkeley as actors, some or all of whom may be able to act in the stage production the following year.
