Announcing Fandom + Piracy

BCNM is very excited to announce our first ever mini-series, Fandom + Piracy!

Kicking off on February 25th, Fandom + Piracy is a virtual conference exploring the connections between media love and media access. We will hear from scholars whose work enables us to understand how fandom and piracy have played a part in the evolution of the internet, how they have attracted millions of participants and become akin to social movements, how they have given rise to digital platforms that both augment and defy the corporatization of media production and the web, and how race/ethnicity, gender, and sexuality operate within fan and pirate communities.

Featured speakers include: Rebecca Wanzo (Keynote Speaker), Kavita Philip (Keynote Speaker), andré carrington, Alexander Dent, Keller Easterling, Racquel Gates, Jennifer Holt, Brewster Kahle, Elleza Kelley, Alfred Martin, and Rukmini Pande.

F+P consists of two lectures and two panels taking place online on four consecutive Thursdays. Registration is now live and you can check out all the events on our dedicated website, fandomandpiracy.online.
