Announcing BCNM's 2018 Outstanding GSI

Nicholaus Gutierrez received an Outstanding GSI award for his service to the Berkeley Center for New Media.

Nicholaus has taught NWMEDIA R1B: Is Technology Evil for the past several years at the BCNM, for which he has received stellar reviews from his students. Course evaluations have praised Nicholaus for teaching his classes how to approach challenging material and read charitably. He has also been applauded for creating an environment that encourages students to express ideas.

"It is an honor to be nominated by BCNM and recognized by the GSI Teaching and Resource Center," Nicholaus wrote upon receiving news of the word. "Teaching in BCNM has given me the opportunity to engage with talented and ambitious students with a keen interest in issues of technology and media that touch every facet of their lives. I have learned as much from them as I hope they have learned from me."

This year's Outstanding GSI Award Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May ​​1, 201​8 from 3:30-5 p.m. in the International House.
