Summer Dispatches: Adam Hutz
Adam Hutz (Rhetoric) was one of five exceptional graduate students to be awarded a $1000 BCNM Summer Research Award. Check out what he's done so far!
The "rhetorical device finder" is coming along: right now it takes particular words as inputs, locates them in a large database of texts, and contextualizes and visualizes them. Most of my time has gone into the rudimentary learning of how to assemble this kind of system, since at the beginning of the summer I didn't know very much at all vis a vis programming. This is a step on the road to algorithms that can process syntax, and I'll be sure to send a more detailed update on the site and its online presence soon!
