Ken Goldberg at the Samsung CEO Summit

Ken Goldberg, BCNM and Engineering professor, attended the Samsung CEO Summit earlier this month, on September 27th in San Jose. The theme this year was "The Age of Insight and Learning." The summit brought together leading minds in artificial intelligence, AR, VR and life sciences to explore the possibilities of these promising new technologies to better the human condition and to make a difference in how we live.

Goldberg was one of the featured speakers at the summit, along with Jeremy Bailenson, Stanford University; Adam Gazzaley, University of California San Francisco (UCSF); Mary Lou Jepsen, Open Water; and Brennan Spiegel, Cedars-Sinai Health System. He gave a talk on how technology could be used to improve our lives, called "Robots with Their Heads in the Cloud"

Goldberg engages with robotics, automation, art, and social media. Ken is Director of the People and Robots Initiative (a CITRIS multicampus multidisciplinary research program established in April 2015) and UC Berkeley's Automation Sciences Research Lab (since 1995). He joined the UC Berkeley faculty in 1995 where he is Professor of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR), with secondary appointments in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science (EECS), Art Practice, the School of Information, and in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the UCSF Medical School.
