BCNM Fall 2026 Open House

Join the Berkeley Center for New Media (BCNM) for our annual open house!

On Thursday, September 10, BCNM faculty and students will gather in the BCNM Commons, Room B102 on the lower level of the Grimes Engineering Center, to kick off the new academic year.

Everyone is welcome, whether or not you're currently affiliated with BCNM! We'll be sharing some of the exciting events BCNM has planned, discussing our designated emphasis and certificate programs, and creating space for students to connect with faculty and colleagues across departments.

Beginning at 4pm, Hannah Zeavin, our new director, will lead a seminar discussion on disability and media studies, the guiding theme of our 2026-27 public events.

We invite you to download and read the introduction to Diminished Faculties: A Political Phenomenology of Impairment by Jonathan Sterne beforehand.

From 5 to 7pm, we'll have light snacks and refreshments, informal presentations on our events and certificate programs, and time to connect with fellow students and colleagues.
