BCNM Progress Report: July 2007 - May 2008
July 2007:
Changed name to Berkeley Center for New Media (BCNM).
Revised Executive Committee to facilitate a Working Group that meets weekly, with a four hour per week commitment. Also created a Campus Advisory Board with senior faculty.
Peter Lyman's family established the Peter Lyman Graduate Fellowship in New Media. Pledged contributions of $130,000 thusfar; we plan to offer the first Lyman Fellowship in New Media in Summer 2009, to be awarded to a student working in areas related to K though 12 education.
During 2007-2008 academic year: 35 Berkeley faculty join BCNM as Affiliated Faculty (total is now 116 from over 30 departments): http://bcnm.berkeley.edu/people/affiliated/

The Art, Technology and Culture Lecture series continues to attract overflow audiences. Every week, CNM 201, the associated seminar, generates provocative discussions. With funding from CITRIS, ATC experiments with a satellite program: ATC-Santa Cruz that hosted six lectures in F07-S08.
