Video of Our Landscape Futures with Geoff Manaugh Now Online

Geoff Manaugh is author of the New York Times-bestselling book A Burglar’s Guide to the City (2016), currently under development for television by CBS Studios. He is currently co-authoring a book, with science writer Nicola Twilley, on the history and future of quarantine. Manaugh has curated exhibitions at the Nevada Museum of Art, Storefront for Art and Architecture, and USC Libraries, including “500 Years of Utopia,” exploring the legacy of Sir Thomas More’s Utopia on the 500th anniversary of its publication, and “L.A.T.B.D.,” modeling the future of Los Angeles through the lens of game design and narrative fiction. He regularly writes for publications such as The Atlantic, The New York Times Magazine, and The New Yorker, and he has taught writing and design courses at Columbia University, the School of Visual Arts, and USC.

Nicholas de Monchaux is Associate Professor of Architecture and Urban Design and Director of the Berkeley Center for New Media. He is the author of Spacesuit: Fashioning Apollo (MIT Press, 2011), an architectural and urban history of the Apollo Spacesuit. He was winner of the Eugene Emme award from the American Astronautical Society and shortlisted for the Art Book Prize. His latest book Local Code: 3,659 Proposals About Data, Design, and the Nature of Cities was published by Princeton Architectural Press in 2016.

Our Landscape Futures is part of Commons Conversations: Technology and Public Life in Changing Times, a discussion series hosted by the Berkeley Center for New Media on the impact of new media on our current political and public climate.
