CNMAT Website Soft-Launch

The Center of New Music and Audio Technologies‘ new website went public earlier this semester in a “soft” release. That means there is still a lot still under construction, but it’s up again!

In conjunction with the website’s launch, the Regent’s Lecturer and Artist in Residence, Canadian electroacoustic musician Jean-François LaPorte played a solo concert on Friday, March 17th. Laporte’s performance showcased his use of sculptural instruments and experimental control mechanisms.

Watch the performance and hear Laporte’s cool soundscapes yourself at this link!

CNMAT is dedicated to multidisciplinary research and the creative use of sound, linking the concert hall to the laboratory. We support a dynamic group of educational, performance and research programs focused on the creative interaction between new music and emerging technologies. CNMAT collaborates with a number of departments, presenters, centers, and units on campus, including the Department of Music, the Department of Art Practice, the Department of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies, the Department of Film and Media, the Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation, the College of Environmental Design, the Arts Research Center, the Townsend Center for the Humanities, the Berkeley Institute of Design, the Berkeley Center for New Media, BAM/PFA, Cal Performances, and the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life.
