Alum Trevor Paglen Receives Nam June Paik Art Center Prize

Trevor Paglen, BCNM alum, was recently awarded the 2018 Nam June Paik Art Center Prize by the Yongin! In addition to a $45,000 cash prize, Paglen was also awarded a solo exhibition at the Nam June Paik Art Center in late 2019.

The Yongin, a South Korea-based art institution, awards this honor to an artist who works in the intersection between art, technology, communication and performance. Paglen is known for his art pieces such as Orbital Reflector (2018), dabbling in visual art, science, investigative journalism and mixed media.

To be recognized in relation to Nam June Paik is truly one of the greatest honors I can imagine.”

There will be an awards ceremony in South Korea later this month on November 30, where Paglen will discuss his work.
