Roxane Gay ATC Lecture Sold Out

Dear Community,

We have received disappointed messages from many who were unable to secure a seat for Roxane Gay’s free talk on Monday, September 10. We are very thankful that we are able to bring Roxane Gay to campus and uphold our mission of keeping all lectures free and open to the public. We wish we could provide a venue that would host everyone who wanted to attend.

This talk is part of a series that is curated by different departments and programs across campus. We rent the BAMPFA’s Osher Theater so that every Monday night you can join us at a consistent time and location to experience dozens of incredible, mind-opening lectures, performances, films, and more. If you would like us to plan for larger audiences, we invite you to support the lectures we host in this space so that we might eventually have enough people and resources to fill a larger venue each Monday. For now, our small staff of 4 people have been working for weeks to make sure that everyone can access this event via Livestream.

We have gone to great lengths to ensure that no one was given priority for tickets and no bots were at play. We simply had thousands of people trying to claim a limited number of seats for a free lecture.

We do encourage you to tune in for the lecture on the Berkeley Arts + Design YouTube channel. The Livestream will be available to view for 24 hours starting at 6:30pm on Monday, September 10. If you are very keen on attending, you are always welcome to stand in the 'non-ticket holder' line the night of at your own risk—at times, we are able to let people in due to attrition.
