Peter Lyman Graduate Fellowship in New Media

Summer Stipend of $5,000.00
Applications Due: February 1, 2014

The Peter Lyman Graduate Fellowship in New Media, established in the memory of an esteemed UC Berkeley faculty member, provides a summer stipend to a UC Berkeley Ph.D. candidate to support the writing of his or her Ph.D. dissertation on a topic related to New Media.

Some preference will be given to those doing research related to children and youth, and to BCNM Designated Emphasis students, but originality and quality of research are the primary criteria.

The amount of the stipend depends on the size of the fund. In Summer 2014 the fellowship amount will be $5,000.00.

Any UC Berkeley Ph.D. candidate who has passed the Qualifying Exam and is in good standing can apply. To do so, students should complete this form. Required information includes: full contact details, list of student’s Ph.D. Committee (noting their Research Advisor), additional sources of funding, a one-page research summary, and an explanation of how the money will be used. Applications will be reviewed by a faculty committee from the Berkeley Center for New Media. The Peter Lyman Fellow will be announced in early March of each year.

All applications must be received by February 1 to be considered.
