Andrea Horbinski

Andrea Horbinski is a PhD candidate in History and New Media DE whose research combines transnational history, new media, and fan studies methods and themes. Her dissertation, "Manga's Global Century," explores the history of Japanese comics as a medium, a format, and a site of fan engagement over the past one hundred years. With Gail De Kosnik, she is working on an oral history-based history of internet fandom, and as part of Gail's interdisciplinary research group, she is working on quantitative methods for evaluating participation in internet cultures.
