Ken Goldberg's "Body in White" on Exhibition October 8

BCNM's Ken Goldberg's "Body in White" will go on display at the Bridgette Mayer Gallery starting October 8. In a nod to the myth of Pygmalion, Goldberg has re-created the now-classic "Programmable Universal Machine for Assembly (PUMA)" industrial robot arm in plaster of Paris. Developed in the 1970s, the instrument was used by General Motors and by research laboratories. Goldberg himself used PUMA in graduate school to create robot paintings. The sculpture stands as a hand-crafted tribute to the now 50-year old classic instrument and a testament to its utility and elegance.
