Manufacturing Transparency Submissions a Hit!

October 2, 2015 was the last date that the Berkeley Center for New Media, NewHive, and The Goethe-Institut of San Francisco were accepting art submissions for the Manufacturing Transparency conference. In short, the submissions for Manufacturing Transparency were a hit! NewHive received a total of 77 submissions. Artists designed pages with original text, animations, audio, videos, and even NewHive's code editor, all of which demonstrated incredible creativity and expression. Check out the submissions at New Hive.

A jury of judges, including Kerry Doran, Associate Director of bitforms gallery; Harlo Holmes, Digital Security Trainer for the Freedom of the Press Foundation; Lindsay Howard, Curatorial Director at NewHive; and Sabine Erlenwein, Director of The Goethe-Institut will select one artist to receive an award of $500.

The top selections will be displayed as an exhibition at the ART-Lounge of the Goethe-Institut San Francisco from October 29th to November 6th as part of the “Manufacturing Transparency” program. Don't forget that you can register to attend the conference, featuring artists, engineers, philosophers, and scholars, discussing the topology of Transparency.

This exhibition is part of an interdisciplinary conference entitled Manufacturing Transparency, which explores transparency across borders and is hosted by the Berkeley Center for New Media, the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, the Goethe-Institut San Francisco, and the Office of Science and Technology at the French Embassy.
