Alex Saum Pascual's @deshumani
BCNM's Alex Saum Pascual has a new Twitter handle, @deshumani, which seeks to take Spanish philosopher José Ortega y Gasset's "The Dehumanization of Art" into the 21st century. Published in 1925, "Dehumanization" explored the rebellion in avant-garde art of the 1920s against the 'human' in art, capturing the intellectual ferment of the avant-garde movement in Spain and providing an important approach to analyzing contemporary art. Saum Pascual takes this work into the digital age by breaking it down into tweets which provide snippets of thought, reforming the text into a series of disjointed fragments which echo the avant-garde movement's break with logical nexuses and subjectivism.
