Margaret Rhee's "Kimchi Poetry Machine"

BCNM DE alumnus Margaret Rhee had her installation, "Kimchi Poetry Machine," featured in the 3rd Electronic Literature Collection. Taking the fermentation process of making kimchi as a metaphor for the poetic process, Rhee creates an interactive model for presenting poetry. Listeners unscrew the lid to a jar inside of which audio recordings of poetry readings play. Listeners can tweet poems to the device's twitter handle as well. Rhee hopes that the device can harness open-source computing to make participatory poetry in a new way.
