Join us in a conversation with digital artist and scholar, Rui Torres!

Rui Torres is a world-famous digital artist, and associate professor at the University Fernando Pessoa in Porto, Portugal. His publications include more than 30 articles and book chapters mostly on Portuguese experimental and electronic literature, media studies and contemporary poetry. He is the author of electronic and interactive books, ranking at the top of contemporary Portuguese net-art production, such as: Amor de Clarice (2005), Herberto Helder Leitor de Raul Brandão (2010) and Poemas no Meio do Caminho (2011). Torres is also in charge of PO.EX, a digital archive of Portuguese experimental literature.

Torres is a professor and an artist, who works with Portuguese contemporary literature and electronic literature. He received his PhD from UNC Chapel Hill, which also means he is familiar with the US higher education system. He has also been a Visiting Professor in M.A. programs in the NOVA University of Lisbon (Portugal), University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain), and University of Tallinn (Estonia). At these universities he has taught classes on digital communication, digital journalism and comparative literature. At the University Fernando Pessoa he has taught classes on digital and multimedia art, but also classes on Brazilian literature and culture, as well as Portuguese Modern and Contemporary poetry and performance.

Poemas is currently on display at No Legacy || Literatura Electrónica (Doe Library, March - September 2016)
