Critical Making 2019 Showcase

Check out the latest projects from the ever-popular Critical Making at the Spring 2019 Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation Spring Showcase!

Critical Making operationalizes and critiques the practice of “making” through both foundational literature and hands on studio culture. As hybrid practitioners, students develop fluency in readily collaging and incorporating a variety of physical materials and protocols into their practice. With design research as a lens, students envision and create future computational experiences that critically explore social and culturally relevant technological themes such as community, privacy, environment, education, economics, energy, food, biology, democracy, activism, healthcare, social justice, etc.

Critical Making will be showcasing their work from 12 — 1:30pm on Thursday, May 9th! Register here. And don't forget to stop by some of the other great works presented over the course of this two day program!

The Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation showcase presents and highlights various project demos, as well as starts a discussion on the art created. This open house is a wonderful opportunity to meet peer designers, explore new projects, and join Jacobs Hall's interdisciplinary design community. Topics ranging from robotics, mobility, social impact, and biodesign are to be presented. The showcase is free and open to the public.
