Eric Paulos will discuss the Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation as a plenary speaker in the first international symposium-workshop on the Future of Design & Design Futures at the Universidad de Ibagué from June 16th to June 17th, 2016.
The 2016 theme for the program is Design Education: Towards Care-ability, offering Eric an important opportunity to discuss the unique format for cultivating design and innovation that the Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation supports.
On the first day of the conference, keynote speakers will set the tone of the symposium-workshop: In the midst of an ever-increasing unsustainable complex world what is/should be the role of design and design education. On the second day, speakers will pose a design challenge. Attendants and invitees will be grouped in design teams to conduct an exploration of forms of design education, contemplating even the possibility of the end of design and the emergence of a post-design thinking era which will give rise to care-able and sustain-able worlds.
